How Much Does an Electric Standing Desk Cost? Prices and What Drives Them
In short
The price of an electric standing desk comes down mainly to the number of motors, the quality and stability of the frame, the tabletop and the warranty. Comfortly offers three levels of complete desk: the compact Sun, the single-motor S1 and the dual-motor S2. Current prices are in the table below and include the tabletop and VAT. If you already have a tabletop, you can buy just the electric frame and save.

What Affects the Price of a Standing Desk?
Two desks that look alike in a photo can be very different in price. The difference lies in the things you can't see in the photo:
- Number of motors: A dual-motor desk costs more because it has a motor in each leg. In return you get a higher lifting capacity, a wider height range and better stability at standing height.
- Frame and stability: A heavy frame with three-stage legs wobbles less, but costs more to make and ship. The S2 frame weighs about 29 kg.
- Height range: A wide range, like 60-125 cm, fits users of any height and needs longer legs.
- Tabletop: Melamine is affordable and light, while solid wood and bamboo are pricier and heavier. The bigger the tabletop, the higher the price.
- Control panel and extras: Memory presets, height display, anti-collision, USB ports and a standing reminder.
- Warranty and service: An official importer warranty on the motor and electronics, with service in Israel, is built into the price. On international marketplaces, it usually doesn't exist in practice.
Budget Standing Desk: What You Can Skip and What You Can't
| You can skip | Don't skip |
|---|---|
| Two motors, if you are of average height and use regular equipment | Memory presets: without them, people stop changing position |
| USB ports and a standing reminder | Stability at your standing height |
| A tabletop bigger than 140×70, if you have one or two monitors | A lifting capacity about 30% above the weight of your equipment |
| A solid wood tabletop | A motor warranty from an importer with service in Israel |
The cheapest desks on international marketplaces usually cut corners on exactly the items in the right-hand column: a light frame that wobbles, an optimistic lifting capacity claim, and a warranty that in practice means shipping the motor abroad. A standing desk is a product you keep for years, so a quality single-motor desk beats a cheap dual-motor desk that wobbles.
How to Save: Frame Only or a Complete Desk?
If you have a sturdy tabletop in the right size, there is no reason to pay for one again. Buy just the electric frame (the legs), screw your existing tabletop onto it and you have a complete electric standing desk. The S1 frame takes tabletops 100-180 cm wide, and the S2 frame takes tabletops up to 2.2 m wide. The tabletop should be at least 18 mm thick.
- You have a good tabletop: Just an electric desk frame.
- You have no tabletop and price matters most: The Sun at 120×60, or the S1 with the small tabletop.
- You need a large tabletop or have heavy equipment: The S2 with a 160×80 tabletop or larger. This is where dual motors are worth the extra cost.
Manual, Electric or a Desk Converter: What You Get at Each Price
| Type | Relative price | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Desk converter | Lowest | Raises only the screen and keyboard, takes up desk depth and is usually less stable |
| Hand-crank (manual) desk | Low | Dozens of turns every time you switch, so most people stop changing position |
| Single-motor electric desk | Mid-range | Enough for most home and office setups, even with several monitors |
| Dual-motor electric desk | Higher | Wide range, maximum stability and heavy equipment |
The low price of a manual desk or converter only pays off if you actually use it. Research on standing desks shows the benefit comes from switching position several times a day, and that is where an electric desk with height memory wins. We cover the benefits themselves in our standing desk benefits guide.
